Moaning = Necessary or Not?

So @marj_galangco and I were talking today about moaning.

I don't know exactly why I brought the conversation up - I think that it had something to do with me groaning uncontrollably after shooting my ear with garlic & olive oil juice (long story).

Anyway, I realized shortly after the incident involving the garlic that burned the crap out of my ear, that pain is separate from the moan. Whereas the pain is an unavoidable event, the moan is a choice. I actually proved that point when I decided that I wouldn't moan the next time around.

And I didn't.

OK so what am I getting at here?

Well I personally think that we moan a lot more than we need to. I think that moaning in itself can actually enable pain to proliferate. Far too much of the discomfort that we encounter on a daily basis lives within our minds. We end up believing that there's a lot more pain flying around than there actually is.

We concluded... two reasons for moaning:
  1. Venting negative energy
  2. Attention

A little detour...

It's been a while since I posted anything in this place - reason being that I've started writing for http://BitRebels.com.

There's only so much time in the day and I'm shamelessly going to prefer posting over there since there's a huge traffic incentive. That doesn't mean that I won't be talking about the same, cool, controversial things - it just means that you'll find me somewhere else.

So GO! Go sign up to the RSS and I'll see you over there.
